Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) Inquiries
The National Center for Rural Health Professions at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford is supporting Illinois’ rural health workforce strategy through planning, partnership development, and implementation support connected to the Rural Health Transformation Program.
Our Role:
The National Center for Rural Health Professions serves as a statewide rural health workforce partner, helping align education, training, community partnerships, and workforce development strategies to meet the needs of rural Illinois communities.
Through this work, NCRHP is helping support Rural Health Transformation Program planning related to rural workforce expansion, community-based training pathways for support workers, and the expansion of AHEC regional partnerships that strengthen the health workforce pipeline.
Please note: NCRHP is a partner in workforce planning and implementation support. We are not the state agency responsible for final primary award decisions, formal statewide program guidance, or official state-level funding determinations.
Where We Are in the Process:
Illinois is currently in the planning and development phase for Rural Health Transformation Program activities. NCRHP is focused on helping identify rural workforce needs, strengthen regional partnerships, and prepare for implementation of workforce-related initiatives as additional state guidance becomes available.
Current focus includes coordinating with partners, gathering information, and aligning our current networks and evidence-based rural workforce strategies with community and regional needs.
Next steps include supporting & planning for workforce expansion, community-based training opportunities, and AHEC-related regional infrastructure.
Final guidance, timelines, funding details, and formal application or subaward processes are still pending from the appropriate state entities.
Note: NCRHP created Subawards may or may not be competitive depending on grant deliverable and requirements we are assigned to meet.
Types of Inquiries We Can Help With
NCRHP can help respond to inquiries related to rural workforce development and partnership planning, including rural healthcare workforce needs, training priorities, potential regional or community partnerships, community-based training models, AHEC expansion, and related rural pathway/ pipeline development.

Important Clarification
Because the Rural Health Transformation Program is still moving through planning and implementation development, NCRHP may not yet have final answers on subaward application requirements, eligibility, award amounts, or official deadlines. We will provide updates as information becomes available and will route questions to the appropriate entity when needed.
