RURAL HEALTH PROFESSIONS
The University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford provides exceptional community-based medical education in a rich clinical environment that includes outstanding teaching hospitals and many community clinics and mental health centers. Our students interact directly with attending physicians and other health care professionals as they explore a wide range of careers in primary and specialty care in a unique environment that offers rural and underserved health experiences.
Academic programs are available at the University of Illinois Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign School of Social Work and UIC School of Public Health.

RMED
The Rural Medical Education (RMED) Program provides a parallel curriculum and training to medical students with an interest in practicing medicine in a rural community.

RPharm
RPHARM educates students about the unique challenges and opportunities in rural communities to prepare them to practice pharmacy in these communities with a patient-centered and interprofessional focus.

RNursing
RNURSING helps advanced practice nursing students develop the specialized skills for practicing in rural settings while helping to mitigate the health disparities caused by a shortage of healthcare professionals in those areas.

BHWELL/Social Work
The Illinois Behavioral Health Workforce Education, Learning, & Leadership (BHWELL) Program is a clinical training and certificate program in social work for students who want to learn patient-centered, team-based models for integrating health and mental health services in primary care settings in rural and underserved areas.
