Illinois Primary Health Care Association (IPHCA) is excited to announce our annual student program, “Understanding and Serving America’s Underserved” is now accepting registrations.
IPHCA has hosted this program for students for the past 11 years. Through our virtual, self-paced format, we are excited to be able to offer this program to even more students interested in pursuing a career serving the underserved.
“Understanding and Serving America’s Underserved” is a great way to learn more about why patients are underserved and programs designed to provide high quality care to these patients, specifically Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs)/Community Health Centers (CHCs). Our tracks are designed based on discipline such as Medical (MD/DO), Dental (DDS/DMD, RDH), Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, MPH students, Behavioral Health/Substance Use Treatment students, undergraduate level, and high school students. You will select the appropriate track when you register.
This self-paced virtual experience will include:
- Educational sessions about America’s medically underserved populations and the programs designed to provide high quality care to these patients, specifically Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs)/Community Health Centers (CHCs)
- Presentations from current FQHC healthcare professionals with insight about working in this setting
- In-depth presentations with examples about career opportunities and career pathways available in the FQHC setting
- Discussion of loan repayment opportunities available for licensed practitioners through FQHCs
Each participant who completes all the modules will be eligible to win prizes. Not only is this event a great resume builder, IPHCA has helped many past student attendees connect with their current employers.
You will be emailed directions for how to access the online content. The content will launch Wednesday, February 14 and remain live until Friday, March 22, 2024. Students must register by Monday, February 12th.
