A Rural Health Career Camp Counselor Giving Back!

Our annual high school program, the Rural Health Careers Camp, was held from Monday, June 23, 2025 through Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. Fifty high school students from 18 rural Northwest Illinois high schools attended the camp. Healthcare professionals from 15 different healthcare professions presented about their careers during the three-day, two-night camp.

A unique aspect of this year’s camp was that a 2019 camper, Brianna Blaine, is back at the Rural Health Careers Camp as a camp counselor. Brianna is also an incoming first year medical student in the Rural Medicine Education Program (RMED) at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford campus where she will be starting her medical school studies this fall.
