Harpreet Sidhu.  Visiting medical student from the University of Aberdeen located in Abderdeen, Scotland.  Harpreet completed an 8-week reserach elective with NCRHP in the fall of 2012.  During her time with NCRHP, she also shadowed a number of healthcare providers from different disciplines.

Harpreet's research project aimed to assess the attitudes of cancer patients, family members of cancer patients and their health care providers as related to the physical and mental health needs of caring for people with cancer.  Comparisons were made between responses of providers and cancer patients/family members.  Providers and non-providers alike ranked emotional needs as the most significiant for people with cancer.  There were no differences between cancer patients and family members in urban vs rural areas related to expressed needs in transportation or access to appropriate care.  A copy of her report is available by clicking here. "Attitudes and needs of oncology patients, family members, and health providers in Illinois and Minnesota, USA."
